Santa Clara Valley Water District, California
Santa Clara Valley Water District (District) is one of the largest water providers in the Bay Area. With the Silicon Valley as the global technology hub, the District needed to align with the high level of service, technology, and data-driven approach to management. The Board decided to develop an asset management plan that projects the long-term needs of the District. The District needed to document the assets owned and managed by the District, review the level of service the District needed to provide, highlight the critical assets, identify what management strategies were required to deliver the service, and understand what level of funding it would take to make it happen. In order to meet this goal, the District underwent the asset management development process by performing asset inventory, condition assessment, risk assessment, and life cycle analysis. Through the asset management process, they are able to proactively identify assets requiring rehabilitation and replacement and to plan required budget and resources.
